Congratulations!

A big congratulations to all the winners of Round 2 on the [info]sshg_awards, especially those on my flist (in no order but alphabetical):
[info]bambu345, [info]camillo1978, [info]ginny_weasley31, [info]ladyofthemasque, [info]scatteredlogic, [info]shiv5468, [info]sshg316, [info]subvers and [info]ubiquirk.

My humblest apologies if I've missed anyone!

Voting was just as difficult this round as it was last time. I was spoilt for choice. Best Author and Best New Author were probably the hardest categories of all for me.

And a big thank you to Shug, [info]mollyssister and anyone else I may be shamefully unaware of involved in managing the awards. This has been a great round, and you did a wonderful job, despite the demands of real life. You make these awards an interactive process, asking for opinions on how things should be done. That makes the process friendly, fair and as transparent as possible. Thank you!

Calling all drabblers*

Fancy a weekend with Tales of Beedle the Bard? Amazon is holding a contest here.

Seems to call for a drabble length entry, answering one of questions three. Will have to get my thinking cap on...

*All drabblers from eligible countries, anyway. Terms and conditions of course apply.

Happy Birthday and thank you ficness

Firstly, Happy birthday to [info]a_bees_buzz.

I've also posted a thank you ficlet for everyone who made this latest round of the [info]sshg_exchange possible here.

Exchange reveal

Thank you to [info]averygoodun for my lovely gift! See it here.

The gift I wrote for [info]catherinecookmn is here. A continuation is in comment fic here. It was a very interesting prompt to work with, resulting in one of the darkest things I've written. So, er, don't click on these links expecting fluff.

Title meme

Nabbed from [info]lady_rhian and [info]ginny_weasley31.

A good title can make or break a fanfic. List (at least) five recent fanfics you've written. For each one, explain how you came up with the title and what it means. )

I would have listed the fic for [info]dickgloucester, but that is still untitled. If I'm going to archive that anywhere other than LJ, I'll need to rectify that. Any suggestions would be very welcome, as I somehow doubt 'Not a R/Hr fic' will do.

It's not even February yet and there's already some snowdrops out and the leaves of daffodils poking up. Confused seasons...

Iz ded. Or wants to be.

I really do loathe my statisticky course. But I'd much rather suffer through a lecture than have a migraine. At least 9 months without one, and I wake up with one this morning. So much for 100% attendance this term...

Someone please put me out of my misery.

On the plus side, the plot bunnies either have a headache too... or value their miserable skins too much to bother me right now.

meme and plotting

Nabbed from just about everyone. I find the third match quite disturbing...

which Harry Potter character I am )

I previously said that I wouldn't even write down the plot for this persistant Resurgam sequel plot bunny. It caught me unawares last night as I went to bed, and I scrawled some details down in a notebook. Now it's doing it's best to get me to transcibe those details onto a Word doc. Not going to happen, you fluffy monster!

First post (also 192nd)

For someone who tends to go against the flow, I'm a sheep. Following the example of most of my LJ flist, I've got an IJ. Obviously.

I've also backed up my LJ onto here, so this is the 192nd post as well as being my first post on IJ.

I'll have to investigate Semagic, as it's supposed to make posting to both LJ and IJ at the same time really simple.

Happy birthday <lj user

It would be very handy if no new posts were made while I catch up with what I've missed... but I wouldn't really want fandom to stand still. With each day I've more to catch up on! I almost missed new posts on my flist reminding me of this:

Happy birthday to [info]amsev. For once, I didn't forget an LJ friend's birthday! Considering that I've been looking at posts a few days old, I'm lucky I looked at some fresh posts today...

I'm pondering whether or not to get an InsaneJournal or not. If the worst happens, it does look more of a welcome new home than GreatestJournal...

Dec. 3rd, 2007

It's back!

Posting from home! The phoneline has been fixed. Seems a little media pressure from the local bit of the BBC prodded BT into action.

I might be persuaded to write something about my step-brother's wedding later. Got to go into uni this afternoon/evening, much to my annoyance. I don't usually go in on Mondays, and I just got back from the weekend away this afternoon. Ugh. Tired. But not hungover. Honest.

It'll take me a while to catch up with what my flist has been up to and any updates to the WIPs I'm following. What have I missed in my week and a bit offline?

Nov. 28th, 2007

From bad to worse

Another quick post from a uni computer. Got home yesterday, learned that the phone (and therefore the internet) was still down. At least BT have let on the reason: the cable has been stolen, so 200 phonelines are down, including my home phone.

BT hopes to have replaced the cable by Dec 5th, and says it will certainly be done by Dec 17th. So I may be without internet access at home for three weeks from when the fault was reported.

It's unlikely that I'll be able to sneak onto LJ at uni long enough to check my friends page, so I'll have a lot of catching up to do when the line has been replaced. At this rate the WIPs that I'm following will be completed by the time I can access them again...

Nov. 27th, 2007

The inhumanity!

Currently writing from a uni computer, which I'm not supposed to do: Uni computers are only for academic work, the spoilsports.

My home phoneline went dead sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning. It's still dead. Hopefully British bloody Telecom will have it fixed by the time I get home this evening.

Sunday and Monday were decidedly hellish, working on statistics without the internet to distract amuse me.

Aaaand I'm going to be computerless from Thursday to Monday, as my step-brother's wedding involves a weekend away from home... I'm going to be in serious internet withdrawal by Monday, especially if the problem with the phoneline is something serious like some complete and utter thieving moron knicking the line.

Fic for <lj user

One-shot )

Just because this little bunny is out of the way does not mean you (the undead!bunny) can double the attack. I'd much rather give in to you than do my uni work, but that just shows how much I hate statistics. The course is mandatory, and while it finishes at the end of this term (Dec 14), I'll have work to do over the Christmas hols. Oh, and an essay on the other course, human remains. Joy.

Nov. 22nd, 2007

Never, ever trust plot bunnies

To the plot bunny currently gnawing on my ankles: go away. I am not about to write a sequel to Resurgam, no matter how much you slobber on my feet. Nor am I even going to write the plot down. I'd hurl a Holy Hand Grenade down your throat if it'd work, but you seem to be either a zombie or a necromancer, you miserable monster. Go on, be off with you. Stop crowding out the poor little plot bunny responsible for my current fic for [info]duniazade

Aargh! That plot bunny just won't die. Sometimes it consents to slink off and slumber for a while, only to come back again just when I don't want to have anything to do with it. Not that I want anything to do with it anyway. Perhaps it's my reluctance to say 'never' to writing the story it demands that keeps it coming back. Horrible creature won't lurk in the shadows until the day I might possibly give in... I bet it knows that there's a chance that day will never come, so it keeps on plaguing me.
